Fancy Cats

Hi there! Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite things I’ve purchased for my two cats, Oliver and Monkey. Do you have a cat or maybe a friend with one? Then read on to find out what you might be missing. Let’s dive in!

Food

My cats love the Applaws wet cat food because it’s tasty. I love it because it’s got all natural ingredients I can actually recognize like tuna, salmon and rice. They also eat the Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion dry cat food. Our older cat Monkey has an occasional sensitive tummy so it’s easy to give both of them the same thing. Our youngest Oliver (“Ollie”) doesn’t mind it either.

To dispense their food we use the Pet Libro automatic feeder. It comes with a convenient app and will alert you when their food levels are low. You can easily change the amounts and frequency of their food and it tells you when it successfully dispensed, giving you peace of mind.

For treats, we like to give Monkey Sentry calming chews because she’s easily agitated. Speak with your vet first about giving these. They’re weight based so pay attention to the label. Ollie prefers Temptation cat treats in any flavor; the fishier the better! We dispense these treats via the Owlet pet camera when we are out of town. This allows us to see the cats and talk to them (two way audio and one-way video via an app!).

Litter

We use Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract litter. It seems to cause less dust and spreading than other brands I’ve tried. The only downside is that it comes in a massive 40-lb bag that’s hard to lift. I store it in a rolling bin that makes it easier to move between the two litterboxes when it’s time to add more. Speaking of litter boxes, I have one Modkat Flip box that I love. We find it very easy to clean this box due to the removable liner. We also have a plain box with a high back to go inside our litter box furniture. This piece of furniture fits into our living room decor so well. People can’t even tell what’s inside!

To manage their litterbox deposits we have one Litter Genie by each box. This is genius because you don’t have to constantly run to throw out mini bags of waste. It’s easy to get set up and doesn’t need any power source. The refills can be purchased on Amazon or Chewy and last ages.

Water

We use a fountain for their water. We’ve had this Eufy model for over a year and it’s incredibly easy to keep clean. All the elements come out for scrubbing. Best of all, the motor is in the base so it doesn’t ever get close to water. You can get refills for the filters very inexpensively on Amazon. Our cats drink way more water from this than they ever did from their dishes.

Around the House

We have a couple of these self-warming mats for our cats to lay on. They’re so cozy and soft and perfect for naps. They also love to scratch things to sharpen their claws. We’ve installed this scratching pole on a corner of the living room entryway for them to use. You can also find the refills on Amazon. It doesn’t get in the way like a traditional pole.

For the occasional light mess like a hairball, we love the Simple Solution Stain and Odor Remover. Heavier ones are always quickly removed by our Bissell Stain Eraser Power Brush. Words cannot describe my love for this machine. It gets out every single mess, every time and doesn’t leave our rugs sopping wet.
