Easy Low Energy Days
Hi there! Ever wondered how you can still have a good day when you have nothing in the tank? Read on to see some tips on how to feel productive even if you’re absolutely exhausted. I promise this one will be very short so as not to take too much effort to digest.
Check In With Yourself
How are you feeling? It might be a good time to do a simple mindfulness exercise. Are you sleepy? Maybe ten more minutes of snoozing can help the rest of your day get back on track. Are you thirsty? Have a large glass of water- not too cold so as to ease you into the day. Hungry? How about an easy meal of something like yogurt or fruit (nothing that needs to be chopped; think banana for this one). Mad? If something is still bothering you from yesterday, consider writing a journal page on it to help you process your emotions.
Plan Your Day
What can be skipped today? Is there anything you can move to a day when you have more energy? For things that can’t be missed, can you ask for help or change the intensity? As an example, if you need to go grocery shopping because you don’t even have the aforementioned banana, can you order those groceries online and have them delivered versus getting dressed and driving to the store? Try making a list of things that simply must be done today, even before getting out of bed. That way you know what you’re getting up to do.
Shower and Brush Your Teeth
The bare minimum must be done. Sometimes just getting water involved can help wake up a tired mind and body. Today is not a day for washing hair and doing complicated skincare routines. Think bar soap and a messy bun.
Talk to Someone
This can help get you out of this low energy funk. Based on your check-in earlier, is your lack of energy caused by something physical that you can change? That’s great! Is it mental? This can also be solved but it may take more time. Either way, let someone know how you’re feeling today. This could be a trusted friend or a mental health professional. You don’t have to get through this day alone.
Do Something That Makes You Happy
What does this look like? It’s different for everyone. Maybe you’d like to watch an old movie. Or take a stroll through a nearby park. Even just flipping through a glossy magazine. Try to fit in something to lift your spirits today, especially if it doesn’t take up more energy.
Check In Again
At the end of this low energy day (which might be quite early if you need to go to bed sooner than usual), check in once more. How many of these tips were helpful? Were you able to rally? If not, don’t consider the day a total loss. You learned that sometimes you just need a bit more rest. Being kind to yourself is always a win, in my book.
