Pretty Hair
Hello again! Have you been looking for some new hair products? Bored with your current style or regimen? Read on for some of my favorite hair care products and tools.
Hair Tools
I recently simplified all the different tools I use and purchased the Shark FlexStyle. This is a fancy blowdryer that also has curling and round brush attachments that snap on easily. It’s very lightweight and fast. One caveat is that it’s quite loud but you won’t be using it nearly as long as a typical blowdryer since it’s so efficient. It has so many functions and can be used for various hair types. I usually start by rough-blow drying my hair to about 80% and then using the round brushes to finish off the style. I also bought a case for it on Amazon that’s padded so I don’t have to worry about the different attachments bouncing around.
Another favorite is my Vanessa Pro Flat Iron. I’ve had this for over three years and it’s very reliable. It heats up quickly and glides smoothly over my hair. You can use it for straightening, curling, you name it. Proof that you don’t have to spend a ton to get decent hot tools.
For detangling I cannot live without my Denman brush. I have the large 9-row styling brush and it’s great for use on wet hair. You can also use it to quickly detangle and style dry hair. Would you believe I invested in this brush 8 years ago and it’s still going strong? Quality product that I highly recommend.
My favorite paddle brush is the Dryer Super Lemon Drop, and its little son the Lil’ Lemon Drop. The bright yellow color is fun and it makes the tiny one easier to find in the depths of your purse. I use both for wrapping my hair before bed.
Have you ever tried wearing a satin lined cap to bed? It’s great for retaining moisture and preserving your style. It also helps save your hair from being damaged by rubbing against your pillowcase.
Hair Products
My favorite shampoo and conditioner set, it sounds CRAZY, is Herbal Essences Color Me Happy. It's super cheap, lathers beautifully, leaves my hair soft and smells incredible. They revived the entire Herbal Essences line from back in the day and I’ve welcomed it with open arms.
Chi Silk Infusion is such a throwback too, but it keeps my hair shiny so I still add a dime sized amount to wet hair. You may also want to enter the new millennium and use Moroccanoil Treatment. I like to use this on my baby hairs and also add a teensy amount after I’m done blowdrying.
Cake Beauty The Hold Out Hairspray smells like lemon cake. It doesn’t leave my hair stiff; in fact the can even suggests you use it as a hair perfume.
Do you like a slick back bun? Try Murray’s EdgeWax to make it as smooth as possible. Has no smell and has never once flaked on me.
Rosemary oil is great for hair health (Of course, check with your doctor before adding any supplements or herbs to your daily regimen). I like to use just a few drops and massage into my scalp.
Finishing Touches
Kitsch is my go-to for spiral hair ties. Theirs last way longer than other brands before they stretch out. These won’t leave you with a dent in your hair when you take out your ponytail.
They also make massive scrunchies that won’t damage your hair because they’re satin. Try using them for your next bun!
As a millennial, I feel naked without a hair tie around my wrist. These ones by Goody are my go-to. They never stretch out and they have a very secure hold.
Having a medium hair day? Try these adjustable head wraps. You can tie them however you like so they won’t leave a dent or cause damage.
