Pretty Cozy Fall Feels

Hello again! Now that autumn is upon us, it’s time to give our spaces a cozy refresh. I personally love how trends are moving away from the sterile, grey looks of the 2010s and returning to maximalism. Let’s move from room to room to see how you can personally make your home as cozy as possible this season. We’ll discuss a few options for each area, and as always I’ll link to products you might want to try.

Entryway

When you first walk into your space, what do you want to see? I like this area to be functional but visually pleasing. Using textured fabric bins to organize can be very helpful to avoid clutter. Try these out. It’s also nice to have a mirror here for last-minute checks before you walk out the door. This pleated brass mirror fits with most decor and is a detour from a plain metal frame. Next, why not add a scent? Reed diffusers are a low-maintenance way to give your guests a nice welcome without being overpowering. Try this one; Palo Santo is one of my favorite scents at the moment. Lastly, a rug is key to make sure winter boots don’t make a mess. This one is made of jute so it’s sturdy and will look nice despite getting a beating at your front door.

Living Room

S and I have spent time finding things for our living room that are comfy (and cat-proof) but not frumpy. We made it our mission not to get everything from one store. So you won’t find matchy-matchy pieces in our home, but that’s fine with us. This also makes it easier for us to switch things out if we want a change. One of our favorite recent purchases has been this storage bench. We chose the rich grey color. The velvet is easy to clean (cat hair comes right off and they can’t scratch it up), the golden legs add a little pizzazz, and best of all it’s deep and holds SO much stuff inside. These benches are also great for an entryway if you have the space for one, or even at the end of your bed. Another way to make your living room cozy is to add some string lights in a warm tone. They’re inexpensive and are so beautiful in the evenings. Finally, how about a new throw blanket? They don’t take up much space and can be layered. This one is 100% cotton and comes in such an interesting pattern.

Kitchen

MUGS! You can never have too many mugs. I love the look of these bistro tile mugs from Anthropologie. For some reason art deco just appeals to me. The Chrysler building has always been my favorite skyscraper, and walking around the city in fall is intoxicating. Pour yourself a mug of coffee and daydream about your next adventure. Of course you’ll probably want to have some guests over at some point during the season. Why not upgrade your entertaining essentials? This serving platter is made of marble so it’s sturdy and eye-catching. Did you know you can order ancy foods online for your next party? Try a cheese crate from Williams-Sonoma or an olive oil cake from L’Artusi.

Bathroom

Oh boy, do I love a long bubble bath when it’s crisp outside. I really like the Dr. Teal’s line; they’re super affordable and give you tons of bubbles. You can also splurge a bit on a bubble bath bar from Lush. They come in all sorts of scents and sizes. Beware some of the colored ones; they might stain your tub if you don’t clean it right after your bath is finished. Another great way to upgrade your bathroom is a new stone bath mat. I really like these because they don’t get all mildewy like a fabric bath mat. They dry off instantly and are sturdy, easy to clean and visually appealing. Finish up with a new bath curtain. Try this sage green color for instant fall vibes.

Bedroom

A new duvet is the easy choice. I remember reading in a novel that the character had a duvet UNDER her sheets and that sounded so amazing. Try one of these fluffy inserts from Amazon. Keep in mind you’ll likely have to hit up a laundromat to wash it since they don’t fit in a standard machine. I also like to change over to jersey sheets this time of year. These are organic cotton and come in a variety of colors to fit your current decor. New throw pillows are also easy to add in. Try this large round furry one to add texture. Did you know Target has really cool framed art? Check out this oil painting on their website. They also have some nice decor right now; this vase and these bowl fillers caught my eye.

Which of these upgrades do you want to try for the season? Is there anything else you want to do to make your home cozier for fall? Let me know in the comments!
